Fit confidence
A size table is not enough: model measurements, fit reviews and comparisons to known brands are what actually convince.
Industry · Fashion & apparel
Fashion has two opponents: fit doubt before the purchase and the return after it. Both come from the same root, missing information at the decision point. Explain size, cut and material well enough that the customer feels safe and you raise conversion while lowering returns. That is the rare double lever of this category.

A size table is not enough: model measurements, fit reviews and comparisons to known brands are what actually convince.
Close-ups, movement on video, material described in everyday language. What cannot be touched has to be shown.
Fear of a complicated return prevents more purchases than it creates returns. Explain the process in three steps.
Outfit merchandising raises the basket: people buy combinations, not single pieces.
Two questions ("what size are you at brand X?") beat any centimetre table and measurably cut size returns.
Runs small / true / large as a mandatory field in the review flow. The aggregate is the strongest signal on the PDP.
Add-ons below 30 % of the main price get taken along. The most reliable AOV lever in fashion.
Sold-out sizes are not lost revenue if the waiting list runs properly.
Through information, not friction: a size advisor with brand calibration, structured fit reviews, model measurements on every product. Friction (paid returns) does lower returns but costs disproportionately more conversion.
Market range 1.0 to 1.6 %. In managed projects we see 2.4 to 4.1 % after the rebuild. Fashion sits structurally below beauty or supplements because fit uncertainty adds another hurdle.
With an occasion and a deadline: no. As a permanent state: yes. Constant markdowns train customers to wait and erode reference price integrity, the most expensive side effect in fashion D2C.
